Centipede Hórreos

To gather in important harvests, huge hórreos was built, especially in the XVIII-th century.

With more than 38 metres in length, that of Araño is the biggest of Galice and so the world (but not the most beautiful, its big stony foot moving closer rather to the snail

That of Lira is just smaller

But the most fabulous (and the most known) is the hórreo of Carnota with its 22 pairs of legs

They were not there hórreos of a (little) farm  Sometimes the farmers grouped and the hórreo was common, each having its space with its door in facade    This could be also a hórreo of a castel, the ground beeing cultivated by the farmers and the owner receiving its part. But the biggest belonged to churches.
Not madmen people of church; in exchange for a spiritual protection (??) they received a part of the harvest of every family of the parish, and this made a big cake to store.
And at these times there, religion was of the most present, as give evidence of it the numerous churches,
cruceiros and petos de ánima witch one meets in all Galicia
