The base of the hórreos

 

 

 Granaries are raised over the ground on cylindrical granite pillars or of square, sometimes octagonal section, or more decorated. These pillars are put on stones or low walls, sometimes the wall of cloture of the property.

 

 

Hórreo of the Northeast: the ground being of the shiste, hórreo is put on high built walls

 

 

 

 A pillar often occupies all the width

The stone which opposes on the way up rodents can be cut in shape of mushroom for the drainage of the water but by keeping a good support for the granary

 

The foot is shaped to distribute the weight on the ground.

The overflowing muela is simple (an element for every foot) or double

 

 

The bottom of the granary can find uses
