The BURRI houses revisited

Several years of energy loss are they ended for the family Burri?
Nursery gardeners for more than 20 years on these lands of the Aude, the creation of the zoning had forgotten them simply, declaring inconstructible a part of their property.
Then they had built illegal bio-constructions, and order had been given to demolish them.
An uprising of the local consciousnesses allowed to avoid this extremity.
A compromise was able to be found with prefecture: they would remove a hut and a prefabricated building (legal it but not in aesthetic agreement with their method) and could preserve two other illegal constructions by waiting for the revision of the zoning

Autobuilt by Jean-François and Cathy Burri....with the help of some friends

The constructed chalet 20 years ago (with licence) but now too small for the family and the agricultural activities

The autoconstructed main house, still in works

80 m2 on the ground and 4 levels
- the cellar semi buried to preserve fruits: stones got back from the ruins of the property and joined by mortar of natural lime
- two levels of house and a height: skeleton and internal pillars in cedar of the country, completion of walls in earth- straw (the earth of the excavation), bardage outside of wood on the exposed walls and the flood of roofs, plastered by earth somewhere else , coated with internal lime " Byzantine fresco ", insulation of the woolen of sheep, etc....

House of 50 m2 marrying the hillside of the ground: wood and earth - straw
This house was built for a partner in the agricultural project which was not able to continue for reasons of health
It serves so for accommodating trainees and friends, as well as of exibition space.
